Material Mom
With earnings of $110 million in 2008, Madonna topped Forbes’ list of Hollywood’s hardest working mothers, followed by actresses Reese Witherspoon and Gwyneth Paltrow.

The pop singer and mother of three, who was recently turned down in her bid to adopt a second child from Malawi, grossed $105 million on her tour and sold nearly a million albums in the United States. Madonna also signed several lucrative endorsement deals last year, according to Forbes.com.

“She had an incredible year in 2008,” said Lauren Streib who helped to compile the list that was released on Friday.

“She had the top tour of any musician…The tour sold out around the world. So it wasn’t surprising as much as it is a commentary on how successful her year was,” she said.

Witherspoon, who earned an estimated $24 million last year, was second on the list, followed closely behind by Paltrow with $20 million in earnings.

In addition to her film career and raising daughter Ava and son Deacon, Witherspoon, who is divorced from actor Ryan Phillippe, is also the international spokeswoman for the cosmetics company Avon.

Paltrow’s role in the blockbuster comic book film “Iron Man,” which earned $580 million worldwide, and her endorsements for Estee Lauder and shoe and handbag maker Tod’s propelled her to the third spot.

Streib said the list is based on estimated earnings of Hollywood mothers with at least one child. Earnings include album sales, salaries, box-office grosses and endorsements and licensing deals.

She added that for many of the women on the list endorsement deals are a significant part of their earnings.

“I think this is something that has been going on for decades now. We are seeing less and less models and more and more celebrity spokespeople. It is a big part of the business of being a celebrity,” she added.

Mother of three Julia Roberts, who returned to the big screen in a starring role in the film “Duplicity,” captured the fourth spot on the list, while actress Sarah Jessica Parker, who has a son with husband Matthew Broderick, rounded out the top five.

Angelina Jolie, who has six children but still earned $14 million last year, came in sixth, followed by model and television presenter Heidi Klum, who is pregnant with her fourth child.

Best actress Academy Award winner Kate Winslet, who has two children, and singer and mother of three Faith Hill also made the list, which is posted at www.forbes.com.

M & Courtney Love to Reunite
We've just heard from a very reliable source that Marc Jacobs is bringing Courtney Love and Madonna to the Met Ball, which means he will have the best table in the history of tables. Remember how amazing it was when Courtney crashed Madonna's interview with Kurt Loder at the 1995 Video Music Awards? It's like that all over again, except Marc will stand between them instead of Kurt! Diva fashion overload — someone fetch us a fan. (Plus, we hear Marc's fiancé, Lorenzo Martone, is sort of friendly with Madonna's man candy Jesus Luz, so that could make for a cute photo op, too.) The nineties are so back. We hope they all wear neon and bring highlighters to color on the tablecloths.

Unofficial: Madonna "Hits" CD

Here is a look at a concept presented to Madonna for the packaging of her new greatest hits cd.

We think Adam Larson of Adam&Co. creates some pretty cool packaging. Apparently others do, too; he was one of a handful of artists invited to present concepts for Madonna's forthcoming Greatest Hits album entitled "Hits," due out September. The project evolved in a different direction but we thought this packaging deserved to see the light of day in some form or fashion!

A couple more after the jump.

Horse Accident Report Revealed

Madonna's Horse Accident Report Revealed

Madonna's Horse Accident Report Revealed

ET has obtained the handwritten accident report made by the Southampton Police Department regarding Madonna's horse-riding accident over the weekend in which she was injured.

The report says police responded to an "aided case" made by Madonna, who according to the accident report, was a "victim of fall from horse." Click HERE to view the document.

ET received a statement from Madonna's spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg over the weekend that read, "The accident occurred when the horse Madonna was riding was startled by paparazzi who jumped out of the bushes to photograph the singer who was visiting friends on Eastern Long Island over the weekend. Madonna will be having further tests and continues to remain under observation by doctors."

Adoption Appeal Date Set

Madonna: Adoption Appeal Date Set

She was devastated when the Malawian court system denied her application to adopt a 3-year-old orphan, and now Madonna has begun mounting an appeal.

The “Like a Virgin” songstress is scheduled to be heard on May 4th as she continues to attempt to bring Chifundo “Mercy” James home to live with her adopted son David Banda and naturally-born kids Rocco and Lourdes.

And come her court date next month, Madge will meet privately with three Supreme Court of Appeal judges.  Official Joseph Chigona told press, “As with all court cases involving infants, this one will be in chambers, not in an open court.”

Madonna’s Malawian lawyer Alan Chinula says he has high hopes for the appeal.  “We believe the lower court judge erred by basing her judgment on an archaic law of over 50 years ago.”

M Doing Fine After Accident

Photographer denies Madonna's claim that he played a role in Madge's fall from horse in Hamptons

Madonna at Atlantic Ave. Beach in Amagansett on Sunday, a day after her tumble.

Madonna appeared physically unhurt Sunday, but her weekend horseback tumble in the Hamptons left her ego bruised.

"Are you the guys that spooked my horse?" the Material Mom asked as she was approached on the beach, where she relaxed in a bizarre ensemble that included a quilted, black Chanel jacket, baggy turquoise sweatpants and a fedora.

Assured that she was not looking at the paparazzi who may have startled her horse at celeb shutterbug Steven Klein's farm, Madonna politely posed for pictures outside the Atlantic Double Dunes beach in Amagansett.

The 50-year-old pop star was asked how she was doing after a night recuperating at pal Gwyneth Paltrow's estate.

"Better," she replied.

Madonna's camp claims her prior encounter with a photographer didn't go quite so nicely.

Spokeswoman Liz Rosenberg claimed her superstar client was thrown when a photog jumped out of a patch of bushes and startled her horse, sending her flying.

But freelance photographer Thomas Hinton claims he played no role in Madonna's mishap - a position supported by the Southampton Village Police Department.

Hinton told The News he shot some frames of Madonna riding her horse about 3:50 p.m. Saturday, but took off soon after because he didn't have a good vantage point.

Hinton returned more than 40 minutes later when he got tipped off that Madonna had had an accident, he says.

"I arrived more than 10 minutes after she fell, and I was shooting from the street," Hinton said. "I don't know what [Rosenberg] is talking about."

Madonna, who was born in Bay City, Mich., and once worked at a Dunkin' Donuts, has taken pains to reinvent herself as a high-class jodhpur-wearing British countrywoman.

After buying Ashcombe, a 1,200-acre estate in Wiltshire, she had an indoor riding arena built there.

Following a rib-cracking fall in 2005, she got back in the saddle and stepped up her lessons.

Friends say ex-husband Guy Ritchie's lack of support after that accident was one of the many issues responsible for their eventual split.

Madonna's recent decision to relocate to New York hasn't dampened her enthusiasm for becoming an accomplished equestrian.

Last month, she entered a horse competition in Florida under a pseudonym, according to sources. Some suspect she may be reluctant to admit she again lost control of the reins, preferring to blame the paparazzi.

Madonna's spill was the talk yesterday of the Hamptons, the glitzy summer playground of the rich and famous.

Not all of its celebrity inhabitants had gotten the news.

Singer Billy Joel, who has had well-chronicled problems with car accidents, said four-legged modes of transport are even riskier.

"Madonna fell off a horse?" said a shocked Joel inside his Sag Harbor garage. "She should stay off of those horses. This isn't the Wild West."

Latest on M's Condition
BREAKING NEWS:

The singer's rep, Liz Rosenberg, confirms Madonna was treated and released after suffering minor injuries and bruises.

"The accident occurred when the horse Madonna was riding was startled by paparazzi who jumped out of the bushes to photograph the singer, who was visiting friends on Eastern Long Island over the weekend," Rosenberg said in a statement to Usmagazine.com. "Madonna will be having further tests and will continue to remain under observation by doctors."

BREAKING NEWS: Madonna in Horse Riding Accident, Again

BREAKING NEWS

Update: Madonna has been released from the hospital. It appears that the horse was startled by the paparazzi. We will update you with her condition as soon as we receive more info.

Madonna took a nasty spill while horseback riding in the Hamptons this afternoon.

The 50-year-old pop icon, decked out in full riding gear and helmet, was doing jumps at famed photographer Steven Klein's horse farm in Bridgehampton when she fell around 4:20 p.m.

After the fall, about 10 people, including 22-year-old boy toy Jesus Luz, nervously gathered around her before emergency workers arrived.

She was carried into an ambulance on a backboard and rushed to Southampton Hospital with Klein by her side.

A police source said the injuries did not appear serious and she was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons.

The Material Mom's day began when she and her sons Rocco, 8, and David, 3, took a helicopter from Manhattan and landed at East Hampton airport around 2p.m.

She then went straight to Klein's compound for what should have been a relaxing day in the sun.

Some of her luggage was taken to actress and good friend's Gwyneth Paltrow nearby home.

This isn't the Pop Queen's first riding mishap.

In 2005, she broke several bones -- including three cracked ribs, a broken collarbone and a broken hand -- when she lost her balance riding on her London complex on her 47th birthday.

Last fall, when her divorce to Guy Ritchie was announced, reports speculated her marriage ended after he coldly reacted to that slip.

"If you can pinpoint an exact event or incident which spelled the death knell for them as a couple, Madonna's horse-riding accident was it," a close family friend told London's Sun.

The accident comes as she's preparing a summer tour in Europe, which kicks off July 4th in London.

MADONNA MANOR, PAYS $40M FOR UPPER E. SIDE HOME

MADONNA MANOR, PAYS $40M FOR UPPER E. SIDE HOME

Looks like Malawi will have to wait -- Madonna is moving to the Upper East Side, The Post has learned.

Madge has signed a contract to buy a four-story, Georgian-style townhouse on East 81st Street for about $40 million, sources said.

That's some $5 million less than the original asking price.

"The townhouse is perfect for Madonna," according to one source.

"She's trying to recreate London in New York City, and this is in the style of a London townhouse."

But her new home in what brokers call the "Far East" does not appear to be all that much of a bargain.

No residence in that area "has ever sold for $20 million, let alone $30 million -- or ever will again," said one broker who asked not to be identified.

The kaballah convert will also find the house has bad vibes -- specifically from the Lexington Avenue subway.

People inside the 26-room mansion can hear and feel the trains coming through, according to one visitor.

But on the plus side, the double-wide mansion does have a two-car garage, a 3,000-square- foot garden, nine fireplaces, an elevator and a wine cellar with a grotto.

And with 13 bedrooms and 14 bathrooms, it certainly has the space to accommodate Madonna's family, which -- at this point -- does not include even a semi-permanent replacement for ex-hubby Guy Ritchie.

While Madonna, 50, originally turned up her nose at the location -- between Lexington and Third avenues -- the home's style and garage proved irresistible, according to the source.

But it's not yet in move-in condition.

The Material Girl plans extensive renovations, along with major security upgrades.

To further reproduce her British lifestyle in New York, Madonna is continuing her quest for an English-style home in the horse country of the East End of Long Island or Westchester.

Madonna said she'd move to Malawi after a judge there ruled earlier this month that she could not adopt a second child -- Mercy James, 4 -- from that country because the singer had not lived there the required 18 months.

"Madonna has a big beautiful plot of land over there already," a source told The Sun newspaper in London.

"She's planning to build a girls school. But she's gone back to the designers and asked if they could accommodate a family home on the plot or on adjacent land."

She already has three kids, Lourdes, 12, Rocco, 8, and David Banda, 3, whom she adopted from Malawi in 2006 after a more sympathetic judge gave his approval.

Louis Vuitton Me, Again

Madonna May Wear Bunny Ears for Louis Vuitton Fall 09 Campaign

The Material Girl will once flex her pilate-sculpted body for the Louis Vuitton 2009/10 Fall campaign. Looks like Marc Jacobs may have had Madonna in mind for the fall collection: who else but Madge can do Chic Coquine & Bourgeoise so well?

There is no confirmation if Her Madge-sty will sport the coquettish “Bunny Ears†headband on or not.

The shoot will take place in about 2 weeks at the end of April.

Check out the Louis Vuitton looks below. We love them all but we have a special weakness for the “Bunny Ears†headband.

Madonna Discusses Adoption
U.S. pop star Madonna is still keen on adopting a second child from Malawi, despite a court ruling in the southern African country preventing her from doing so, a local newspaper reported on Sunday.

Madonna, who lost an appeal against a High Court decision refusing her bid to adopt a four-year-old girl named Mercy James, said she wants to provide education and a family environment for the young girl.

"I want to provide Mercy with a home, a loving family environment and the best education and healthcare possible. And it's my hope that she like David, will one day return to Malawi and help the people of their country," Madonna told the Nation on Sunday newspaper in an emailed response to questions.

"Though I have been advised that I cannot publicly discuss the pending appeal regarding my desire to adopt Mercy, I do want to say how much I appreciate the level of support that I have received from the people of Malawi and my friends around the world."

Malawi's government came under fire after Madonna adopted a 13-month-old child, David Banda, in 2006, with critics accusing it of giving her special treatment by skirting laws that ban non-residents from adopting children.
